Emerging singer-songwriter Victoria Canal, winner of the prestigious Ivor Novello Rising Star award, is set to support popular musician Hozier on his forthcoming UK tour this July.
The tour includes a number of prominent locations, including an outdoor gig at London’s Alexandra Palace Park and performances in Newcastle, Halifax, Manchester, Cardiff, Bournemouth, and Birmingham.
Victoria Canal, known for her emotive pop music and powerful songwriting, has recently been recognised for her compelling sound and talent. The 24-year-old artist, born in Munich and of Spanish-American heritage, is a proud representative of her identity as a queer, disabled, mixed-heritage woman. Her international upbringing has resulted in a love for a nomadic life in music, with Canal having lived everywhere from Shanghai, Tokyo, and Amsterdam, to London, Dubai, and various US cities.
The singer-songwriter also recently released two new singles, “Shape” and “She Walks In”, via Parlophone Records. These new tracks, dealing with themes of body image and body dysmorphia, will be featured on a new EP set to be released this summer.
Upon receiving the Ivor Novello Rising Star award, Canal dedicated her win to her past teachers and mentors and expressed the honour she feels in representing people who feel different.
I really could have used seeing someone like me on stage growing up and I never did so it’s truly an honour to think that someone else who feels different out there knows that it’s possible.

Victoria Canal’s television acting debut took place last week in the acclaimed Apple TV+ anthology series “Little America”. She portrayed a Spanish-speaking Salvadorian refugee in the moving episode “The Indoor Arm” and also wrote “Bring It On”, the theme song for Apple TV+ series “Best Foot Forward”.
