Community and voluntary organisations across Dorset are being urged to act quickly as the deadline approaches for the latest round of council funding aimed at supporting local projects.
Dorset Council has issued a final reminder that applications to its Capital Leverage Fund must be submitted by midnight on 15 January 2026. Decisions on successful bids will be made later in the month.
The fund offers one-off capital grants ranging from £1,000 to £25,000 to not-for-profit groups looking to create or improve facilities for local communities. The scheme operates on a match-funding basis, with the council contributing up to 20 per cent of a project’s total cost. Applicants must secure the remaining funding before any grant is released.
A wide range of projects may be eligible, including upgrades to village halls and community centres, new or improved play areas, sports facilities, and enhancements to cultural or heritage venues. Proposals linked to arts, culture, sport, and climate-related initiatives are also encouraged.
In the most recent funding round, six organisations shared ÂŁ88,500 to support projects that improved access to facilities and services for residents across the county.
Cllr Ryan Hope, the council’s portfolio holder for customer, culture and community engagement, said the grants can play an important role in strengthening local communities.
“We are committed to supporting active, healthy lives and reducing inequality in Dorset,” he said. “This funding can give community groups a real boost to improve and expand facilities that matter to local people.”

To qualify, projects must support at least one of the council’s corporate priorities. Cultural projects must also align with objectives set out in the Dorset Cultural Strategy.
Organisations interested in applying can find full guidance and application details on the council’s website. The deadline for submissions is 15 January 2026.
