A lightning strike hit a house in Templecombe

Templecombe house struck by lightning

Sherborne, Wincanton and Sturminster Newton fire crews responded to reports of a house being hit by a lightning strike at 3:39 pm, today (17th June) in Templecombe.

Upon inspection, the Wincanton Fire Station crew discovered a light smoke throughout the house, but the house was locked.

Firefighters used ladders to gain access to the roof to perform a thorough inspection.

After a key-holder arrived, the property was inspected internally.

Sherborne Fire Station stated that the tenants moved out last weekend and the property was empty when lightning struck.

The images show the devastating effects of the strike and how it blew drywall and parts of bricks into the rooms, and plug sockets and cables off the walls.

The property in question is no. 14, The Knapp in Templecombe.
