With only two weeks left to go, Dorset residents are urged to get their first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose or the spring booster. The NHS will transition to a targeted seasonal offer for those at increased risk after June 30th. This change makes the upcoming fortnight the final opportunity for everyone yet to receive their two main doses to do so.
The NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Programme has successfully administered the spring booster to over 85,000 people in Dorset so far. There’s still an ample number of appointments available across multiple sites in Dorset during the next two weeks.
Vaccination is accessible and convenient with large vaccination centres, community hospital clinics, and pop-up clinics offering walk-in appointments. A selection of GPs and pharmacies also offer bookable appointments.
It’s been fantastic to see so many people in Dorset come forward to top up their immunity against the virus, which is still circulating in our communities, helping to keep us protected and well this summer. I am incredibly proud of our vaccinating teams across the county for their continued efforts providing important extra protection for those that need it most.
Dawn Dawson, Chief Nursing Officer for Dorset HealthCare,
She advised people to check their eligibility online before visiting a clinic. The clinicians will ask a short series of questions to ensure the jab is right for everyone.
With only two weeks left, if you have yet to get your booster dose so far this spring, don’t delay any further, our staff and volunteers will welcome you at any of our sites and take good care of you.
Paul Bolton, Clinical Services Manager for the Dorset Integrated Vaccination Service
To find the nearest walk-in clinic, residents can visit the NHS website at NHS UK.
This latest round of vaccination is offered to those considered most at risk, following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). Individuals are advised to ensure that their appointment takes place at least three months since their last dose.
The final spring vaccination appointments will be offered on June 30th. COVID-19 vaccinations for everyone who was aged 5 on or before 31 August 2022 will also conclude after this date, as per recent advice from the JCVI. Post-June 30th, the NHS’s approach will become more targeted towards those at increased risk, typically during seasonal campaigns.
With the clock ticking, don’t miss your opportunity to get vaccinated this spring and help protect Dorset from COVID-19. Let’s stay safe together.
