The Great Dorset Steam Fair has announced that they have rescheduled their 52nd event due to COVID-19.
The event is the largest of its kind and attracts crowds larger than 200,000 individuals to the showground in Tarrant Hinton, near to Blandford Forum in Dorset.
In a statement published on The Great Dorset Steam Fair website and Facebook page, it was announced that the new dates for the event are Thursday, 26th to Bank Holiday Monday, 30th August 2021.
Dorset Online understands that The Great Dorset Steam Fair’s 52nd event was postponed from 2020 to 2021, not only due to uncertainty regarding travel and guidance during the old dates. However, it was also taken into consideration that the event would have an impact on the NHS, emergency services and local authority, who would be stretched to help organise and safely run the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
Martin Oliver, Managing Director, Great Dorset Steam Fair Ltd said:
“We have been closely monitoring the unprecedented Coronavirus situation over the past few weeks and have explored all options. However, it has become increasingly evident that it would be both irresponsible and unfeasible to continue with the event this year, during these uncertain and challenging times.
“This difficult decision has not been taken lightly, however, the safety and wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors, traders, staff and contractors is always our primary concern, combined with the effect to the local area, towns, parishes and residents.”Martin Oliver, Managing Director
Great Dorset Steam Fair have further stated that if you have already booked tickets for the 2020 event, your booking will remain valid for 2021 automatically, without the need to contact the organisers. Alternatively, you can request a refund by contacting Great Dorset Steam Fair.
