Weymouth & Portland Police officers were sent to Weymouth town centre last night, where the sound of a taser being discharged was heard.
Officers searched the group and discovered an illegal taser. The device was ceased and one male was arrested for its possession under Section 5(1A)(A) of the Firearms Act 1968.
Police stated that the small device was disguised as a torch.
Tasers are a weapon capable of discharging a strong electrical current and are classified as a prohibited firearm in the UK. It is, therefore, an offence to possess, purchase, acquire, manufacture, sell or transfer such a weapon, without lawful authority.
