Blandford Town Museum has launched a new website

River Stour, Blandford Forum

The Blandford Town Museum has launched their brand new website this week.

With a motto of “Caring for the past, informing the future”, Blandford Town Museum in Blandford Forum, North Dorset, has done a marvellous job of preserving history, while embracing technology.

Working with Parrot Creative, who are web design experts in Dorset, the museum’s Director and Trustees have embarked on a digital transformation campaign to support their exceptional efforts of further growing the museum and their involvement in the local community.

Aided by new branding, the new museum website is accessible to individuals with disabilities, just like the museum itself, and features a variety of new improvements, including revised content and structure:

  • exhibits and art
  • archives and publications
  • events and clubs
  • learning and education
  • volunteering, membership and partnerships
  • updates, contact and location information

In addition to the improved content and layout, the new website is fast-loading, adapts to mobile devices for easy on-the-go use and is set for many upgrades in the near future to better tie it with the exhibits in the museum.

Work-in-progress features include the ability to scan QR codes at the Museum, and being immediately taken to a web page about the relevant exhibit or display.

Blandford Town Museum has worked extremely hard to ensure that the website is a resource for the community, historians, artists and professional researchers and more.

Anyone looking to develop their knowledge while supporting a volunteer-run organisation should visit this hidden Dorset treasure.
