UPDATE: Potential explosive device found near Fancys Farm on Portland

Police, bomb squad and Ministry of Defence are responding to a potential explosive device which has been found near Fancys Farm on Portland.

Police have cordoned off the area, closed nearby roads and are advising everyone to avoid travelling to the area.

Fancys Farm is in the northern part of Portland, near HMP The Verne and Portland Bunkers.

In an update from Weymouth & Portland Police said:

The device was found to be parts relating to amateur rocketry and not a threat to the public. The MOD have taken the parts with them and officers have resumed.
