Dorset Council has shut the access road to Durdle Door today (24th June), due to safety concerns over the number of people going to the area to enjoy today’s weather.

After an incident on Bank Holiday Monday and a recent drowning, the council has been under pressure to control or close the beauty spot.

Following past events, it was clear that the situation would repeat again. Lulworth Estate, who own the land, implemented a car park booking system at Durdle Door.

Announcing the closure on Travel Dorset, Dorset Council’s travel news Twitter account, they stated:

The number of cars in the car park has reached a level where we have safety concerns for people using these narrow rural roads.

Please think twice about where you are planning to enjoy the Sun with rays sunshine.
