Arson charge for the man responsible for Bitter End, Dorchester flat fire

On the morning of Monday 29th June at 9am, a fire was started at a block of flats on Bitter End, Dorchester.

As the emergency services arrived to tackle the fire, residents were evacuated and roads were shut, before being reopened at 7:30am after the fire was safely extinguished.

At the time, a 42-year-old man from Dorchester was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, but was placed on police bail pending further enquiries.

In the meantime, Dorset Police arrested and charged a 27-year-old man from Dorchester for arson with intent to endanger life on 15th July 2020 at Poole Magistrates Court. He is due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 13th August 2020.

The 42-year-old man remains on bail.
