About Us

Dorset Online

Started in June 2019 by our editor, Kacper Jednorowicz, Dorset Online is a hyperlocal news website, covering community news, events, businesses and charity news.

Unlike the larger news titles available in Dorset, we are not a subsidiary of a company that’s then owned by another profit-focused corporation – we’re a small and independent website run by individuals with in-depth experience in writing, digital marketing and websites.

With four separate news categories, we try and tailor our news to provide stories of interest to Dorset’s residents every single day.

Whether a community update, or a major incident of national importance – we cover stories of all sizes.

Statistics

As of 23rd October 2020, Dorset Online has:

  • 15,690+ unique readers
  • 225+ stories
  • 202,875+ views on the site, Twitter and Facebook

Can I submit a story?

Dorset Online can cover your story, whether you’re big or small, as long as:

  1. It involves Dorset.
  2. It’s a news story, business, charity or event coverage.
  3. If you provide us with photos, you must be the owner or have permission to publish the photograph(s).
  4. We kindly ask that you share the story on your company’s social profiles (if you’re an organisation) and/or your personal social media as a thank you gesture. However, this also helps promote your story and encourage sharing of your cause, event, news or promotion.

Let us know what’s happening in your community, what awards your business or non-profit has won, or the new event you’re putting on.
